US extraditing pirate
By Asha

The last few months have witnessed the US Government launching one of the most sustained campaigns against software, music and movie piracy on the internet.  The US Government first seized more than 80 website names and challenged their owners, many who live abroad, to contest the seizure in an American Court.  Fighting the US Government in an American court requires very deep pockets

Torrentfreak, which only reports on BitTorrent and copyright, has revealed how the USA is now trying to extradite the UK based administrator of one of the sites to America

Three weeks ago the 23-year-old UK-based administrator of a TV show and movie links site was arrested by police. The site, referred to only as TVShack, could be one of three domains of which two are already controlled by the US government after their seizure as part of Operation in Our Sites. Following his detention in the UK’s largest prison, the admin is now fighting his extradition to the U.S. with the help of Gary McKinnon’s lawyer.

Not surprisingly, all this has had a chilling effect on such websites.
