Super Clean SunGard By R Sarathy
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. Some of the Tips sent to Techgoss lack fact and perspective or are seething with anger and hatred, and so are never published. But today we got a Tip which, in just a few detached words, tells the story.
“ Cleanliness would be an interesting topic for sociologists in India. Add to that increasing cleanliness levels ushered in by the growth of back offices in India is another topic by itself. SunGard, a Pennsylvania-based company which provides software and services to education, public services and financial services sectors has R&D centers in Bangalore and Pune that focuses on software development for the parent. SunGard, which has more than 25,000 customers, has an interesting policy when it comes to cleanliness. Unlike most IT companies- whether of Indian origin or MNCs, - employees have the option of using hand sanitizers at almost every corner of their offices. In the office located at Divyashree Chambers, Langford Roadin Bangalore, the company has put up hand sanitizers across both the floors. .This extends to the reception area, which, in India has never had the practice of keeping hand sanitizers for visitors. The practice, as one of the managers tells Techgoss, dates back to the days of' Swine Flu' when a lot of companies were forced to relook their cleanliness policies. “
