Free ticket for stalker
By Techgirl

If you are a guy and harass a girl on the internet, the police in some Indian states who are tech savvy will track down your IP address and arrest you.  Sadly, in many places in India, there are some policemen who have not even logged on to a ‘cuumputer’ and so may not be in a position to help you much after you lodge a complaint against the male stalker.

And if you are a female stalker?  An Indian Judge may ask the male victim to pay your airfare and hotel so that he can hear your side of the story.

PTI has filed the following report

Long, late night e-chats have landed an IIT Kanpur graduate in trouble with his netizen friend -- a woman research associate with IIT, Mumbai -- allegedly subjecting him to emotional blackmail which forced him to move the Delhi high court for protection.

On a plea by Amit (name changed), presently working as an engineer in a multinational firm in Gurgaon, Justice Rajiv Kait has issued summons to the woman with a direction to appear in his court tomorrow.

Justice Kait, however, has asked Amit to foot for her air-fare for Mumbai-Delhi trip and meet her boarding and lodging expenses here in Delhi as she appears before the court in response to its summons over his plea.

….

So much for equal rights in our country!  Perhaps this could be a plan for the next holiday in Goa, Kerala and Kashmir.  Meet a guy online in these states, stalk him and then use this ‘judicial precedent’ to get a paid holiday in the state. And then cry before the judge: “But he had promised to marry me!”
