Google India censor data By Techgirl
Hats off to Google India! They received 282 requests from various Indian Government agencies to remove content uploaded to Google platforms. While there was a 67 percent increase in Content Removal Requests by Indian Government as compared to the previous year, only 22 percent were fully or partially compiled with. Ironically, the American Government puts in the largest number of requests to remove data, pictures and video uploaded to Google services like Blogger and YouTube.
Especially creditable is the fact that Google itself has released all this data and provided it in such a user friendly way that you can zoom into any country and see great level of detail
Google’s broad view of India is: “We received requests from different law enforcement agencies to remove a blog and YouTube videos that were critical of Chief Ministers and senior officials of different states. We did not comply with these requests.”

Now will Yahoo, Rediff and other online platforms release similar data as well?
