Google+ sorry for spam By Techgirl
Google’s beta invitation only social networking site Google Plus was launched on June 30, 2011 and has generally received good reviews. Understandably, in the first 24 hours, Google only gave a few journalists and hand picked non media types access to Google Plus. These special invitees were told they could only invite 15 of their friends and acquaintances by entering in their email addresses to the site. But due to a glitch in the software, some were able to invite 500 friends in 20 minutes.
Yesterday (July 10), there was another teething issue. Google Plus ran out of space which resulted in spam messages being sent out to everybody.
Google’s Vic Gundotra has apologized
“ For about 80 minutes we ran out of disk space on the service that keeps track of notifications. Hence our system continued to try sending notifications. Over, and over again. Yikes.
We didn't expect to hit these high thresholds so quickly, but we should have.
Thank you for helping us during this field trial, and once again, we are very sorry for the spam. “
