Indian HR cold calls USA By Ria Sharma
US-based Sahas Katta has one of the most beautiful and clever resumes on the internet. Sahas has designed a user interface for his resume website based on the Windows Phone 7 interface. You have to logon to his site it to see how good it is.
His website would probably have been seen only by a few hundred people, but one of America’s popular tech sites Business Insider profiled him. Within 48 hours, he had 30,000 visitors checking out his site.
How popular did Sahas become? So popular that Microsoft India rang him at midnight. “I also got a call at about 12:30 AM PST from a Microsoft recruiter in India. She was quite persistent on relocating me overseas for a position as a Lead UX Manager to work with designers, researchers, engineers, and program / product managers. I declined the offer as I do not plan to leave the San Francisco Bay area, which is still the center of the tech world.” Says Sahas.
There are many signs our country is a super power. Everyone from Obama to British, Chinese, French and German leaders have made officials visits to strengthen relations. More IIT graduates now prefer working at home than going overseas. But this is the first time I have heard of someone from India cold calling hot young talent in USA with an offer to relocate. Wonder what kind of package she offered him! (7/14/2011) |
