Aegis powers on in Pune, India By Mike
Aegis BPO has 39,000 employees based in 42 delivery centers and looking after 135 clients. Head quartered in Mumbai, Aegis has call centres in India, Philippines, US, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Australia, Kenya and South Africa. Aegis, ranked eighth by NASSCOM among the top BPO exporters in India, is experiencing a growth spurt in tech hub Pune.
One of the key Aegis Call Centres in Pune was in a mediocre commercial building Mega Center, Solapur Road with a seating capacity of a 100 people. A staff of 120 employees working shifts manning this office. Soon, Aegis won the Telecom IDEA Retailer Support Process which triggered the expansion phase. This office has now moved to technology hub Commerzone which already houses offices like 3 Global Services and a couple of IT companies. There are rumours that the Royal Bank of Scotland will lease premises in Commerzone.
A tipster rang techgoss to say that the 120 Agents have now expanded to over 600 with the target set at about 1000 call centre employees at the Aegis offices in Commerzone. The K Raheja Corp has developed Commerzone, Pune. This IT-BPO hub is spread over 2.5 million square feet and located about 15 minutes from Pune Airport. Apparently, Aegis is looking for the best Agents for their new Pune offices and are offering them Rs. 300,000 plus per annum. The new salary structure is a big jump to what was on offer a year back.
