PCA hacks BSNL By Ria Sharma
Indian Government owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) was formed in 2000 and in 2006 had revenues of 40 thousand crores. Unable to compete with the private sector giants like Vodafone, Reliance and Airtel, BSNL has seen a revenue reduction of a 1000 plus crores every year since 2006. But it does play a key role in reducing the Rural Urban divide.
BSNL is also a prominent symbol of India and its executive authority. Hacker News has published proof of how the Pakistan Cyber Army successfully managed to hack key data from BSNL’s websites. Ten thousand User Profile information like Name, Email Phone Number and Location have been accessed. Also, exposed are BSNL's internal working of VPN, detail of circuits and as well as other technical details. It is a major security breach.
BSNL still has not released a public statement on the evidence presented at Hacker News. Being a Government organization, perhaps they need to hold 2-3 meetings to decide what they will tell the public (7/28/2011) |
