India Firefox equals IE
By Sumir Singh

News came this week that by end of July, Microsoft (and the worlds) most popular operating system Windows XP, had dropped below the 50 percent global usage mark.  Even today, less than half the world chooses to use Windows XP.

What about browsers?  Towards, the end of 2010, the global share of Microsoft's browser IE fell below 50 percent.

I generated a StatCounter Global Stats report which is showing that in July, 2011, Firefox reached the same level of usage in India as its rival Microsoft's IE.  India can be a difficult place, for a number of reasons, to gather any such statistics.  But if this is true, it shows that the open source free software movement is even more popular in India that we thought.
