More LulzSec arrests
By Asha

The world was mesmerized to see hacktivist groups Anonymous and LulzSec easily break into the websites of everyone from CIA to Sony.  PayPal and Visa were subjected to denial of service attacks. Most recently, LulzSec made international headlines when they hacked into the websites of News Corp and diverted all readers to the prank news that the media tycoon Rupert Murdoch had passed away.  The hacktivist group spokesman ‘Topiary’ (who is associated with both groups) regaled their many admirers with his mastery of public relations and clever turn of phrase.

The core group was untouchable till July, and they enjoyed using their Twitter account to tease and taunt everyone in authority and their many critics.  The British Police announced in July, 2011, that they had arrested a core team member who was online under the pseudonym of ‘Topiary’.

Yesterday, British police announced the arrests of 2 more key people of the 'hacktivist' groups Anonymous and LulzSec. These two male hackers had donned the female pseudonym of ‘Kayla’ while online.  Kayla had a substantial fan following as she was regarded as one of the rare female super hackers. Now it turns out she was actually 2 men.

One of the key leaders of this hacktivist group ‘Sabu’ has gone underground.

But it will take many more weeks and months to understand how the hacktivist group worked.
