IBM BPO: cab costs down by 9%
By Ryan

The IBM Daksh BPO has grown to 25 delivery centers in India and the Philippines in the last 10 years.  Daksh has a work force of 30,000 who look after tens of blue chip clients. On its website, IBM Daksh says it is moving up in the value chain and sees itself as a BTO (Business Transformation Outsourcing) rather than a BPO. Like all BPOs, it spends a lot on transportation.

A tipster tells Techgoss that IBM Daksh currently uses 4 transport companies in Maharashtra to ferry its Agents between work and home. Their brilliant Pune-based Head of the Work Flow Management (WFM) systems, Mr. Khanna and his team have developed a clever application known as Zone Hour 9 which has streamlined the Daksh transport system.

Using Zone Hour 9, all employees place their own requests and times for availing the transport facility. This prevents unnecessary allotment of cabs to employees who are unwell, or do not wish to avail transport on some days or work extra hours in some weeks.

All this has resulted in better transport management and even reduced the total costs by 9 percent.  One of the prime drivers of this application was the need to save fuel.  Now that this software has been adopted by IBM at a global level, it has saved fuel worth at least $ 2.2 million during the last year.
