Shoot crime for Police
By Kerala IT News

With the Onam celebrations at its peak in the capital city, the Kerala Police has decided to take the help from people on the streets to curb crime and mischief mongers. People can shoot / record crime using their mobile phone cameras and then mail the pictures / videos to the Cyber Cell at these email ids: cybercelltvmcity or cptvm @ keralapolice.gov.in

According to the Police Officials, the mobile phone users will be a ‘force multiplier’ and will help in enhancing their ability to detect and apprehend criminals. This should also deter potential offenders. The Police are also deploying over 80 plainclothesmen and women across Thiruvananthapuram during the week long Onam festivities which began from yesterday. They will be carrying carry spy cams - pen shaped concealed cameras with extended audio video recording capability. The plainclothes units will be targeting chain snatchers and others who move in the crowd to pester and stalk women, especially unaccompanied women and children.

The Police have installed about 120 cameras at the various venues across the city as part of their surveillance network during the Onam celebrations. They are hopeful that these cameras will instill a sense of security among revellers at the festival venues.
