Syntel Variable woes By Sandhya
Over the last 20 months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel. One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. A Tipster, who prefers anonymity (Techgoss guarantees your name will not be used), sent in the following Tip
“ Syntel employees were absolutely shocked when they did not receive their Variable Pay as part of their September salary. It is one of the components of each employee’s salary and 25% of it is paid in September. The remainder 75% depends on company's goal targets and achievements for the year, and is paid as part of the March Salary of the financial year.
Why has Syntel not paid out our Variable Pay? Is it because some big boss has 'targets' to meet to get his bonus?
Many employees were trembling with anger and there was some talk about having an Anna Hazare like hunger strike to protest this Diwali dampener “
