Pak porn ban starts
By Sumir Singh

Last year, the Pakistani Courts and Government banned Facebook for hosting anti Islamic pages which hurt the sentiments of many citizens.  The Indian Government also had a quiet word with Facebook and those controversial pages were blocked from India as well.

Now, leading Tech and Telecom blog, Propakistani, has details of 1000 adult websites being banned as a first step towards blocking porn sites in Pakistan.  And this Government move has huge support among the population

As we reported earlier, Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has plans of blocking 150,000 such websites in coming weeks, however, initial list of 1,000 websites has been sent out to all ISPs, mobile operators and international gateways to get them blocked.

ProPakistani has got the said list of 1,000 websites, which we aren’t publishing here for obvious reasons. But we can tell you that they all are adult websites and few of them are ranked in top 100 Alexa list for Pakistani most visited websites. Local adult websites are also included.

The process will take 8 to 10 working days and then these 150,000 will be blocked in Pakistan. PTA is planning to keep updating the list, through user input and self determination.
