Google irks CERT boss
By Techgirl

As the people’s hero Anna Hazare’s anti corruption movement gained momentum, the Government let lose its attack dogs.  Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh has accused Anna Hazare of being a RSS front and being anti Congress.  Yesterday, Digvijaya tweeted that Anna was losing his credibility because of his conflicting views on his Lokpal Bill.

Don’t you wish that Digvijaya Singh should take a maun vrat (vow of silence) for a couple of years?

It seems that such political masters show a way to some bureaucrats.

The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) has been set up by the Indian Government to protect the country’s computing infrastructure.  It has the power to ban websites.  This week, the CERT India boss accused two of India’s most respected websites – Medianama and CIS India - of being Google fronts.  Both publish insightful articles on the digital India, and are hugely popular with the tech sector.  Medianama has blogged

It appears that Gulshan Rai, the head of India’s Cybersecurity body CERT-in, at a cyber security conference accused us at MediaNama of being a front for Google because we spoke up against India’s draconian IT Rules. At least, that’s what Abhimanyu Radhakrishnan of the Times Group has just tweeted. Dr Rai suggested that Radhakrishnan look into our “funding”, as well as that of CIS India.

The Times of India journalist tweeted that the CERT India boss accused some Indian media of ‘being anti-Govt and corrupted by MNCs’

I suppose after this article, he may lash out and call Techgoss a MySpace, Orkut or Yahoo front.
