Men Call Me Things
By Techgirl

Ask any female blogger in India who speaks her mind, and she will tell you of at least a couple of trolls who have called her a bitch and probably even threatened sexual violence.  And if she is attractive and has posted a picture, the male trolls come like moths to a flame.  The anonymity of the internet makes cowards even more violent and cowardly.

Most female bloggers just delete the vicious comments on their blog and move on.  But it seems enough is enough for many women online. Blogger Sady Doyle has started a Twitter Hashtag #MenCallMeThings and thousands of female bloggers from every corner of the world have shared their nasty experiences with aggressive Trolls.

Sady Doyle has blogged on why she created the Twitter Hashtag after Trolls left the usual messages: “You are hysterical”, “You are a monster” and “I want to f*** you”.  Or even “I would never f*** you”.

Logon to Twitter and search for #MenCallMeThings and see how it has gone viral in the last 24 hours.

There is a very strong stream of opinion that such Trolls should now be confronted.  They should be identified, named and shamed. Could this a pivotal point when women now decide to take a stand online rather than just look the other way?
