Genpact: Key Bank OJT team stopped
By Pulkit Sharma

Genpact was India’s first BPO and still continues its market leadership position in India.  Genpact has 41,000 employees and earned revenue of $1.1 Billion in 2009. Genpact started life as a Business Unit of GE, but by January 2005 it became an independent company.  Two years later, it was listed on the NYSE. In 2009, NASSCOM ranked Genpact as the No. 1 BPO company in India.

All the signs are that one of the key new processes at Genpact has hit a road bump.  A Genpact insider tells Techgoss that they had hired a team about 60 people to fly to USA for OJT (On the Job Training), but last minute obstacles have grounded everyone in India.

US-based Key is one of the nations largest bank-based financial services company.  Key has assets of approximately $94 Billion and offers the entire gamut of financial services including investment management, retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, and investment banking products and services to individuals and companies throughout the United States and, for certain businesses, internationally.

Key has more than 15 thousand employees and announced a net income from continuing operations of $56 million for quarter ending July, 2010.

Genpact had signed an agreement with Key to look after some of their call centre and associated services from India.  A 60 strong Genpact team had got their American Visas and was all prepared to fly to USA for On the Job training (OJT) at Key Bank.

But at the eleventh hour, Key started having second thoughts about such a large Genpact team coming over.  After intensive back and forth negotiations, everything has been put on hold for a couple of months.  The team hired to support Key bank has been moved to other processes till the issue is resolved.
