Technology giant Hewlett Packard (HP)’s Imaging & Printing Group (HP-IPG) announced yesterday the launch of a book Write&Read: By Us for Us – A Collection of Short Stories by Children, for Children written by children selected from the HP Write&Read workshop series for children. Lyricist Prasoon Joshi and Geeta Dharmarajan, Writer, Founder and Executive Director of Katha, joined Neeraj Sharma, President, Imaging & Printing Group, HP to launch and celebrate the book with the group of winning children selected to attend the finale in New Delhi.
HP Write&Read is an initiative for children created by HP’s Imaging & Printing Group (HP-IPG) as a collaborative story-writing program for children in the age group of 9-14 years. Creatively mentored by lyricist Prasoon Joshi together with Katha, an NGO that brings children living in poverty into reading and quality education. The HP Write&Read workshops were successfully concluded in six cities across India with over 1400 participants from more than 100 schools, doubling the initial target of 700 children. 31 best short stories from over1400 entries submitted by children attending the workshop were shortlisted through a rigorous judging process supervised by Prasoon Joshi and were then compiled in the form of a book – Write&Read: By Us For Us – A Collection of Short Stories by Children, for Children.
For HP-IPG, the journey of HP Write&Read, which began in July, 2011 in Bangalore with the first of the workshops, finally comes full circle.
