Angry Birds @ Shaadi By Techgirl
(Sorry, got the heading wrong. It should be Angry Brides)
European computer game Angry Birds has been a huge success in 2011. On Christmas day last month, the game was downloaded 6.5 Million times. It reached its 500 Million downloads milestone in Nov, 2011. Rovio, which created Angry Birds, earned revenue of $100 Million from Angry Birds and its spin offs.
Whatever happens in Hollywood soon makes its presence felt in Bollywood.
Perhaps it’s the same with successful online games!
India’s second most popular online matrimonial site Shaadi has coincidentally released an online game 'Angry Brides' which it describes as a game which involves 'grooms with a heavy dowry price tag. The players have to strike the dodging grooms with a weapon of choice. Each hit decreases the price of the groom and adds that money to the players Anti Dowry Fund'.
Do I have a fertile imagination? Or is Angry Brides cashing in on the success of Angry Birds? After all, all is fair in love and marriage!
