Even though Wipro started as a business in 1945, it only launched its technology division in 1980. Since then, Wipro has become a major player in the global IT, BPO and KPO outsourcing industry. In India, it is No. 2 in the domestic IT Services market. Last year, it had revenues of US $6 Billion. Wipro has a workforce of 108,000 and 72 global delivery centers in 55 countries.

“ Investment bank Credit Suisse, which also offers private banking and asset management services, is one of the blue chip clients supported by Wipro BPO, Pune. Right from the early days of transition in September, 2009, this process has had its fair share of teething issues.
Apparently, Credit Suisse was so frustrated with the problems that they escalated their misgivings to Wipro Joint CEO Girish Paranjpe. And every second month there is talk about pulling the plug on the Process.
On the receiving end are the employees who are working very long hours. Some even work 12 hours a day in an attempt to stabilize the Process. A retention bonus was offered few months back with amounts so low, it could barely be called a bonus. There have been several resignations, and with news in Wipro BPO of no salary hike from the closure of last appraisal cycle (Wipro BPO still hasn't closed their appraisal cycle of April 2010), many employees of the Credit Suisse Process are looking for greener pastures.
To Wipro’s credit, they have taken a number of steps to try to stabilize the situation. Wipro has pumped in more than 25-30 percent non-billable resources in the last few months. “
