YouTube video funny?
By Asha

How does any person work out if the video they thought was funny and uploaded to YouTube was funny for the other viewers of Google’s YouTube as well? After all, humour is subjective.

Google Research has a possible answer

We noticed that viewers emphasize their reaction to funny videos in several ways: e.g. capitalization (LOL), elongation (loooooool), repetition (lolololol), exclamation (lolllll!!!!!), and combinations thereof. If a user uses an “loooooool” vs an “loool”, does it mean they are more amused?

All this research was to work out which videos were to be short listed for their Comedy Slam competition
