Office affair spills on to Facebook By Bala Shah
Teleperformance (TP) is one of the biggest BPO’s in the world. It has about 100,000 employees and revenue of 1,800 mill pounds last year. Established in 1978, its core business spans the full spectrum of CRM/BPO contact center solutions. Teleperformance has a large global footprint in the industry with 276 contact centers, presence in 51 countries, servicing over 75 markets.
Teleperformance supports a number of clients including Adobe, SanDisk, Alliance One, Telus and Microsoft.
Perhaps, one of the best managed and happy workplace at Teleperformance is its Adobe Support Process at Gurgaon. Its highly skilled workers produce great results every month, and in turn, the performers get great monthly incentives.
Every month, Techgoss receives at least one anonymous Tip about inappropriate office relationships. Some have a power imbalance, some are between equals but bad for the team morale, and a few Tips are about some male managers who prey on attractive subordinates. Most of these Tips are not backed up by any proof and so they are never published. Everyone knows of this BPO boss who has been having affairs with his juniors for years, but he is clever enough never to leave any tracks.
But sometimes, the Tips are backed up solid facts and leaked HR reports and emails.
In 2010, Techgoss had exclusively reported on how Genpact has sacked a South India based Assistant Vice President (AVP) after serious allegations made by a junior. The AVP who was with Genpact for more than 5 years was the subject of a thorough Genpact HR investigation which concluded in the second week of July, 2010. To Genpact’s credit, they acted swiftly once the complaint reached senior management.
On Jan2 , 2011, Techgoss received a Tip about an inappropriate relationship at the Adobe Process at Gurgaon based Teleperformance. An Adobe Process Assistant Manager Hirak* had a relationship with a junior Sonam*. When the relationship ended after 9 months, a bitterly hurt Sonam posted the following at Facebook: “I’ve loved you with all I had. I’ll not let you go off so easily”. (Image of Facebook post at top of article). She has resigned her job at Teleperformance.
As Facebook has more than 500 million members, it was just a question of time before the tech savvy Adobe techies at TP saw the Facebook post and it started making the rounds of the office.
*Techgoss has all the details but we will only publish what has already been posted in public sites like Facebook. We have used only the first names and deliberately censored out the surnames.
