Syntel: Heated meeting on Claims
By Sandhya

Over the last 12 months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel.  One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.

Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced.  People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym.

In early November, 2010, Techgoss had exclusively reported on how a senior manager had jumped the Syntel ship to join JP Morgan (JPM). The Head, Transaction Processing, Mumbai at State Street Syntel JV, Komal Aggarwal, who had been with Syntel since September 2006, had quit to join JPM.

Techgoss has reliably learnt that Syntel has hired a team of two – Subodh Aggarwal and Jigar Gada – to fill in the big shoes of the highly regarded Komal.

A Tipster tells us that after taking over their new positions, both Subodh and Jigar realized there was a huge rise in Claims.  To resolve this, both called a meeting of Managers and Team Leaders on Nov 24 at Delphi Building, Mumbai.  Almost every manager from the transaction processing vertical was present.  After discussing the rising Claims threadbare, and not getting any concrete solutions to reduce them, things got a bit heated.  According to an insider, while most of the twenty people in the conference room kept their cool, a few lost it and raised their voices.  At least a couple of managers were asked to put in their papers if they could not ‘deal’ with the rising Claims being encountered by the Client’s Process.
