Syntel HR rollback
By Sandhya

Over the last 24 months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel.  One report showed how that in the past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the sudden exits of the CEO and key HR people.  Techgoss has broken more stories about Syntel than any other media.

Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced.  People send in tips, photos, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT - ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. A ex employee of TriZetto wrote in

In 2008, Trizetto signed a multi million dollar 3 year outsourcing deal with Syntel.  It was a win win for both companies and could be renewed at the end of the 3 years.

This News Tip is a bit dated, but still relevant to understand the cut and thrust of the Indian IT-BPO industry.

Today, Trizetto is one of the largest IT clients of Syntel and contributes a significant portion to Syntel’s revenues. When Trizetto HR realized that many of their employees were being poached by Syntel for their Healthcare projects, they were irate and escalated their concerns to the very top – to the Syntel President and CEO.

The pressure from one of the biggest clients was forceful and clear – No poaching of Trizetto staff by Syntel.

Syntel Pune HR ‘rolled back’ all the people they had recently hired from Trizetto. Some of the ‘let go’ employees tried to come back to Trizetto but there were no jobs for them.

No one told these employees that there was a No Poaching agreement between Syntel and Trizetto.

Was someone from HR pulled up for poaching from a client?

We love all our Tipsters!
