HCL 2200Cr deal

HCL is a $6.2 billion leading global technology and IT enterprise comprising two companies listed in India - HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems. Founded in 1976, HCL is one of India's original IT garage start-ups. The HCL team consists of over 90,000 professionals of diverse nationalities, who operate in more than 31 countries including over 500 points of presence in India.

HCL Infosystems, which specializes in hardware, services and ICT Systems Integration and Distribution, has announced today that it signed a contract with The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on August 7, 2012. As per the contract HCL Infosystems Ltd. has been awarded the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to implement and manage the Central ID Repository (CIDR) for UIDAI. The contract is for a period of seven years and worth 2200 Crores.

The entire end-to-end technology infrastructure of the UIDAI will be managed by HCL Infosystems as the designated Managed Services Provider (MSP). As the MSP, HCL Infosystems will be responsible for procurement and installation of the IT infrastructure, implementation of information security management systems and operations support and maintenance. The scope of work also includes technical helpdesk, support services and database administration.

HCL Infosystems Ltd, had revenue of US$ 2.4 billion (Rs.10,754 crores) last year.
