Four Techies get 5 Lakhs raise each
By Sumir Singh

After disappointing financial results, American networking giant Cisco has been undergoing rationalization for the last 5 months. It shuttered its Flip camcorder business.  13 thousand jobs have been made redundant and more than 12 thousand employees moved.  Cisco openly said it had ‘lost its way’ and become ‘fat’.  But for some CISCO techies, salary increases are well deserved.

Aricent is a global innovation, tech and services company focused exclusively on communications.  In 2010, Aricent was authorized as a Cisco Learning Solutions Partner (CLSP) for the Asia Pacific region. CLSP is Cisco's highest level Learning Partner status.

Aricent has such a close working relationship with CISCO that it employs over 10% of all Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineers (CCIEs) in India.

Aricent and CISCO run a Technical Assistance Center in Gurgaon.  On Oct 24, 2011, this Technical Assistance Center (TAC) announced that one of its super techies Yash Joshi had cleared the CCIE Voice Exam.  With this certification, Tech Lead Yash’s salary immediately increases by Rs. 5 Lakh.  This is almost an 80 percent increase in salary

There are not many jobs for Indian techies where passing one test will give you a Rs. 5 Lakhs / annum increase in salary.  The CISCO Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is accepted worldwide as the most prestigious networking certification in the industry.  Less than 1 percent of the networking professionals in the world hold this Certification.
