Adobe India poaches from partner
By Bala Shah

US based Adobe did very well financially in 2011. Adobe achieved revenue of $4.216 billion, compared to $3.800 billion in fiscal 2010.  This represents 11 percent year over year growth, and exceeded the company’s target of 10% growth provided at the outset of the year. It generated $1.5 billion in cash flow during the year.  Adobe has two offices in India at Bangalore and Noida.

Adobe has outsourced a large part of its customer support functions to the highly regarded BPO Teleperformance.  BPO Teleperformance, Gurgaon supports Adobe clients from all over the world.  Teleperformance is one of the biggest BPOs in the world and employs 130 thousand workers world wide.

Sources in both Adobe India and Teleperformance India tell Techgoss that Adobe is breaching its No Poaching deal with Teleperformance and has hired some key staff from its outsourcing partner of 3 years - Teleperformance.

Adobe India on its website says that ‘Adobe India has aggressive recruitment plans and is planning to recruit more than 300 people over the next year’

Techgoss had learnt that when Adobe gave their technical support to Teleperformance Gurgaon, there was a No Poach policy which stated that No Agent / SME can join Adobe for 12 months after resigning from Teleperformance. But now it seems that it has become a trend that not only Agents, but also for the prized SME's moving from Teleperformance to Adobe within a few days rather than wait for 1 year.

Earlier, when one of the Senior Team Leaders at Teleperformance, Mr. Grewal, resigned and he joined Adobe, it was a very big shock to Teleperformance as he was one of the best Team Leaders at the Gurgaon Site. Mr. Grewal was followed by Agent Ms. Gurpreet Kaur who also resigned from Teleperformance and soon joined Adobe. Following the same trend was Mr. Aditya Kalania who joined Adobe as an Agent.

Adobe is a much respected brand and it offers huge salary increases to anyone from Teleperformance who jumps ship.

The latest shock for Teleperformance is Ms. Prabhjyot Kaur who worked with Teleperformance as an Agent for 6-7 months and then quit a fortnight ago to join Adobe as a Tier-2 employee.  At Teleperformance, the highly regarded Ms. Kaur was an Agent but as a Tier-2 at Adobe she has now become the boss of all her ex colleagues at Teleperformance.

As Adobe has outsourced many of its key functions to BPO Teleperformance, the BPO earns substantial revenue in the deal.  However, they would be unhappy at losing their own highly regarded key staff to poaching by their own client.  But it is not a good idea to make this poaching a serious issue of disagreement because Adobe is a blue chip client and substantial source of revenue.  So, lots of fake smiles even as there is some heart burn about losing staff to their own client.

Adobe India, on its part, is doing a great job pretending the No Poach policy does not exist.
