Sparsh: TATA AIG Process exits

Intelenet Global Services describes itself as a leading global third party BPO Company that delivers Business Process Outsourcing services to many Fortune 500 companies in India, USA, UK, Australia, Mauritius, Philippines and Poland. Intelenet is backed by Blackstone, a leading global Private Equity player. Sparsh BPO, with 16,000 employees, is Intelenet’s subsidiary in India.

In May, 2011, British based Serco bought out Intelenet and its Indian wing Sparsh for 385 Million British Pounds.

The TATA AIG General insurance outbound Health & Accident marketing campaign, commonly known as OOC, being run at Sparsh BPO Services Ltd. at Deonar since 2005-2006 has been closed. There were apparently 65 agents with four Team Leaders and a couple of Trainee Assistant Managers running the process. The Deputy Operations Manager of the process, Santosh Pandey, has also left Sparsh BPO. The process was based out of the Thane center since a couple of years.

There were two processes run by TATA AIG General Insurance Co at Sparsh - one does telecalling on the HSBC customer database, and the other on TATA AIG General Insurance's database of customers / prospective customers.

The HSBC portion has around 35 odd agents and seats and is still functioning at Sparsh. However, the larger 65 seater process being run on TATA AIG General Insurance's database has closed as of July 30, 2011. Apparently, there was a time when this center at Sparsh BPO was the flagship marketing team for TATA AIG General Insurance till 2009.

In 2009, two very capable and inspiring Team Leaders left. Since then the process has not recovered as the displaced team leaders were the mainstay of the process for a long while and had successive promotions on the job.

In all possibilities it seems that the process has moved to Andromeda Marketing as its one of the other service vendors of TATA AIG General Insurance. Santosh Pandey has also joined Andromeda.
