WIPRO: Smart Agent Makes 1 Lakh Every Month
By Gauri Shankar

What would you think of an entry-level caller from a BPO industry, who earns a salary of 16K, but takes home 100K plus, each month? The interesting part here is, these extra thousands that he earns on top of his assigned 16K salary are not even the hard-earned performance incentives. How does he do this? Is he doing something unethical or is he misusing the organization’s resources? Well, this is where his grey cells come into count. Perhaps, he is just working smart, and as you read further you will agree with me.

People normally associate a monthly paycheck of an entry-level caller working in the BPO industry at anywhere from 10K to 25K, including the performance based incentives. While the managers take-home check ranges from 40K to 50K.What is so extra-ordinary about him? Well, this is his drive and his intelligence to make the best use of the organization’s policies to his benefit. Employee referral is the secret behind this huge income. Shyam Sharma* from Wipro BPO, Delhi, refers his friends and friend’s friends to be recruited in the organization. If they are selected, he gets a minimum of 5k for each referral. This is done on regular basis.

Shyam may not have a huge friends circle, but he is always on a look-out for people who want to get into the BPO industry. He recommends them and in return, earns friends, cash and recognition. This is his strategy to earn as much as possible within the organization’s given rules and stipulations.

Every BPO has a referral scheme. It is an opportunity for employees to receive a cash reward for recommending friends and peers. Referrals also help the HR department in filtering the selection process, since the employees are already aware of the selection criteria, and hence, they recommend the most-suitable candidates. There is no limit to how many applicants an employee can refer, and the referral amount varies with the designation. The higher the position of the referral, the higher is the reward for an employee.

We are all aware of such schemes, but how many of us actually make use of such an opportunity? And, the irony is, lot of employees hop from one BPO to another just for a few thousands, forgetting exploit the huge potential of earning in lakhs, that too, without any hard work. So, the lesson is clear, it does not always take a performer to earn big, it takes an out-of the box thinking. As you know winners don’t do different things, they just do things differently. Shyam Sharma definitely is a winner here !!!
