Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT - ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. A Tipster, who has asked us not to publish his name, has sent us a detailed Tip about how the sacking of an Adobe Process Agent for logging on to Facebook at work triggered off a fight which resulted in the sacking of her Team Leader as well.
“ In the last few months, the Management at Teleperformance has become stricter about their Email Policy as well as accessing social networking websites like Facebook from work. Despite a number of terminations in the last few months, it seems that the use (misuse?) of Facebook at work is too irresistible for some young men and women.
In September, 2011, an Agent named Ms. K* who was in Install Queue of the Adobe Process was found accessing Facebook while she was at work. Her Team Leader Mr. S* caught her red handed. For a number of reasons, their discussion about her using Facebook at work soon escalated to a heated argument. Ms Facebook Addict was sacked.
Still seething from the sacking, Ms. K* sent out an email to the entire Teleperformance Senior management on Sept 11 which included highly regarded managers like Mr. Ahluwalia, Mr. Pareek and Mr. Manu. In this email to the big bosses, Ms K detailed some of the corners being cut in some workflows to ‘improve’ the performance metrics of the Adobe Team at Teleperformance. And there was the juicy nugget in the email that sometimes her Team Leader Mr. S* used to sneak in booze at work. And visit some ‘adult’ sites.
If this wasn’t enough, her email was also CCed to the Service Delivery Manager of Adobe Mr. Trikha. The popular Mr. Trikha who is known for his cool temperament swung into action and called for a meeting with Vice President Mr. Prashant and other senior TP Managers.
End result? Team Leader Mr. S* was also sacked.
Moral of the story? Never expect a Facebook addict to go cold Turkey. If you see them getting a Facebook shot at work, look the other way. Because if he is going to be sacked for his addiction, he / she will take a few people down with him “
