Indian video on Facebook goes viral
By Suneetha

It’s called ‘5 Days of Facebook’ and is 382 seconds long. It’s a humorous take on the ‘realities vs. expectations’ when boy meets girl on Facebook. Uploaded to YouTube on October 11, 2011, it ‘stars’ young people you may have seen on the streets of the virtual world before too. And as I write this, this Manish Jain produced video has had 119,276 views and nearly 300 comments.

The video had an unassuming release on the web channels the same time as the hugely publicised SRK’s Chammak Challo as well as the MTV Roadies videos; but in three bare days this video, made as an ode to ‘500 Days of Summer’, overtook then all in viewership. It’s now being shared like no other Indian video in recent days and the total viewer ship is upping its count every minute as the most watched, most shared and most discussed video in recent times.

'5 Days of Facebook' features some people you might know. In fact it’s a meeting point of extraordinary people who are really quite ordinary like you or me. The FB profile of 'Mickey Sodawaterbottleopenerwala’ is enacted by actor Gaurav Gera, who works with both the small and large screens. In case you don’t recognise the name, he is the guy “who also holds an online record for over 5000 Comments on a single status update on Facebook”.  'Sonika Sachdev', the ‘heroine’ is portrayed by model Gayatri Choudhari “who has featured opposite Shahrukh Khan & Ranbir Kapoor” as the Team ‘5 Days of Facebook’ tells us.

The music of the short piece is one thing that has helped propel the video to its popularity spiral. Music & Lead vocals are by Rahul Bhatt, the soulful female voice is Nihira Joshi, who is known from her Reality Show appearances. The Song has been mixed in London by Lakshman Chandrasekaran, and mastered by the legendary Chris Gehringer at Sterling Sound, New York. Manish Jain & Rahul Bhatt created the lyrics in a collaborative effort.

Techgoss asked Manish Jain, Director / Writer / Editor of Shot Ok Motion Pictures / Shot Ok Films Pvt. Ltd who produced this video, about how life has changed for the team post the phenomenal success of ‘5 Days of Facebook’.

Manish says “It feels great to see our effort getting appreciated all over. People take us more seriously as a Production House in the industry since we have not come from the conventional industry circles. There are inquiries that have come in for directing Ad-films and music videos for various artists on one side, while we are taking a bigger plunge into Feature Films now. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing hundreds of thousands of people connect with a story, that you once scripted within your brain, sitting in some isolated corner of the world. Its simply superb a feeling...”

So your most thrilling response so far?

Manish Jain is all humility here. “One feedback that thrills me and is the most articulated one is people saying they see themselves in the video. It gives me a high.”

There is a fan page on Facebook already and some lucky wins for people who search for 'Mickey Sodawaterbottleopenerwala' and 'Sonika Sachdev' on Facebook!  And you can use the tune as a ring tone as well.

Simple facts that appeal to the person within the viewer always work wonders. Perhaps it’s that genuineness that wins here too. Check out the video at this link
