Techie in team for yummy Chaat
By Suneetha

Partial to street food?  And live in Delhi, but fear lack of hygiene? Here’s hope! Aahar Rath ‘The Litti’ which describes itself as  ‘India's first branded mobile designer vending outlet serving Indian traditional dishes’, is spearheaded by NIFT graduate Suraj Kumar along with a couple of young men, including techies. TG speaks to Rohit Sharan, one of the techies on the team.

Rohit Saran, hails from Bihar, has done his B.Tech degree from IP University in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and works in a top Telecom service provider company.  He and Suraj are childhood friends, schoolmates and share a wave length.  So when Suraj came with this idea of Aahar Rath, Rohit jumped in.

Clean chaat, reasonably priced and with a wide choice on the menu card is what these young men want for Delhi and other parts of India. Currently on the menu card are Dal Baati, Dal Pithi, Litti Chokha, Lassi, Chhach and Sherbet. All served from a smartly designed vintage car styled clean handcart.

Aahar Rath celebrates its first anniversary on Dec 20, 2011.

Techgoss (TG): So what is behind Aahar Rath?
Rohit Sharan (RS): Aahar Rath is a roadside designer vending outlet serving dishes in stylized way. A unique  venture started by a NIFT qualified fashion designer along with other professionals  and creating self employment and social  service opportunities together  through  promotion of Indian traditional dishes which are losing their heritage day by  day  due to their scarce availability. A concept for part time (add on) employment along  with  respective careers of it’s members delivering right product through right service on right time to right person at right place.

TG: Where all do you serve customers? How is the process co-coordinated? How technical is the process?
RS: We serve our customer near Nirman Vihar metro station in front of v3s mall. The reason to choose this place is that it is a crowded place so that we can attract more people and apart from that it is a neat and clean place. We have different groups of people for different work areas. There are some people who belong to work group whose task is to make the litti and sell it, then there are some people who are assigned all the marketing things, then there are some people who are responsible for the promotion activity. The process is not very much technical right now but with due course of time as we will expand it will become more technical.

TG: What is your role with AR? Any other techies associated with it?
RS: Now my role in Aahar Rath is to find the possible expansion scope and for promotional activities. There are three techies associated with AR including Kumar Nitin and Nishant Gunjan

TG: what sort of customers do you get? Techie crowd? Tell us about them if you get techies as customers regularly and why they come to you?
RS: We get all sorts of customers and ya there are Techies as well. They come to us because we provide quality hygienic traditional food with warm hospitality.

TG: What expansion plans do you have right now?
RS: We are working over the expansion plan and will reach to every part of Delhi. We have already planned for three more stalls in Lakshmi Nagar, Mukharji Nagar and Noida.
