BPO Proton Web:  Help!  My Boss Has A Gun

You would have seen Scaramanga in ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’. Now visualize this! A boss with a black gun who pulls it out a la James Bond and threatens his employees often.

Farris is one such boss who is the MD of the Chennai headquartered Proton Web BPO Services. He not only has a revolver in his table drawer, but also uses the ‘black devil’ to threaten his employees who do not comply with his ‘company’ policies. He also has the reputation of not returning employees’ original certificates after the completion of one-year bond period.

Recently, an agent named Kumar, on completion of his one-year bond, requested his boss to relieve him – original certificates et al. On hearing this, his boss got furious, ordered him to continue with this job, failing which he will lose his job or beaten up.

Kumar, hailing from a wealthy family from Kerala, told him he doesn’t really need this job to survive and he will not keep quiet and threatened his boss that he will inform his relatives and put an end to the issue. Infuriated, Farris took out the pistol, and poor Kumar fearing for his life left without another word.

Within a week, another agent Malini, asked her boss to part with her certificates as she had planned to take a break and lookout for greener pastures. On hearing her plans, Farris yelled back at her. He shot out a string of choicest abusive language and pulled out the gun from the drawer and threatened her with dire consequences.

Little did the gun-brandishing boss know that he had really met a match in Malini. She just caught hold of his shirt and slapped him tight, and told him in simple terms that she would ‘deal’ with him in due course. She was true to her word, and sent in her resignation the same day. And went a step further and with the help of her lawyer,  Malini sent a notice to Farris and got back her certificates within three days.

There are many still, suffering inside, not letting out the steam in fear of being dismissed or inviting the wrath of their boss. God save them.
