Bloggers photos flicked By Techgirl
She writes under the pseudonym of Twilightfairy and is one of the most respected and popular persons in the North Indian blogging circuit. Twilightfairy describes herself as “I am a comp sc engineer by qualification, a telecom software person by profession and (of late) a photography person by obsession“.
What happened when the Twilightfairy woke up one day and saw the big bad old media in the form of a national newspaper had used one of her photos without permission? She politely emailed the newspaper rightly asking for credit and compensation. The newspaper hummed and hawed and offered Rs. 250. Twilightfairy was politely persistent. The newspaper upped the offer to Rs. 1,500 for the Twilightfairy to disappear.
Twilightfairy stood up for all bloggers and new media whose photos have been used without their permission. And she wrote about it in her popular blog. And she certainly casts a spell with the brilliant way she argues her point.
More girl power I say. It takes courage to correct old media. Now I do believe in the special powers of fairies.
