Comments cane WIPRO By Bala Shah
Early this week, news broke that one of the Wipro veterans, Sudip Banerjee, had resigned from Premji Investments to become the new CEO of L&T Infotech. Sudip was highly regarded at Wipro but had recently been shifted against his wishes to Premji Investments. Premji Investments is used as a ‘bench’ for a few loyal, senior executives who are sidelined.
When this news broke publicly, it was published in a number of newspapers including India’s most read newspaper ‘Times of India’.
Every time such an article is published, a number of serving and ex-Wipro employees leave comments - generally negative, about their experiences with WIPRO. Hassan Kumar from Bangalore described Wipro as “the dirtiest company that anyone can dream of working for. They only care for customers. If a customer asks Wipro to clean bathrooms, they are ready with a quote and an estimate”.
Kishore from Tokyo left similar comments: “I work for Wipro and their policies are there to pad the owner’s pockets and exploit the employees”. Wiproite, USA said: “Wipro spares no effort in exploiting people. I don’t know about Premji, but all top managers are losers and idiots”.
Ouch.
And many more such comments. And who said the geeks were shy and would avoid confrontation? Some have the bitching abilities of Bollywood gossip columnists.
The article is good. The comments even better. Recommended reading with a cup of chai and samosa. It is interesting that such vitriolic comments are very rarely left for companies like Infosys.
