Technopark Company censors Tech Forum
By Sunil Sharma

“Beware of Aryans Infoway.  There is a company in Technopark called Aryans Infoway. For VLSI job there is a bond for 3yrs & security deposit of 1 lakh and they take freshers. Think twice before joining this company.”

“Please note that the opinion I expressed about Aryans is only about ‘security deposit and 3 year bond’. I don't know anything about the company or the projects but I feel something is fishy there. Be careful.”

These were some of the postings on the immensely popular techie’s forum www.mytechnopark.com by the employees of the Technopark in Trivandrum. In fact the postings on Aryans Infoway were one of the most viewed with over 700 visits and a good number of responses. But on 29th December 2007, these postings were removed under legal threat and pressure from the company management.

While thanking all those who contributed to the postings, at the same time apologising to the community, the Administrator of this tech forum confesses that “The recent thread about Aryans was a real eye opener and many aspects of the company were discussed here. But we had no option but to remove it.” The management of the company had complained that because of the defamatory postings they were loosing their business and trust affecting their 500 odd employees. Renjith, the forum moderator says that “As we faced legal action and since not a single person (employee or ex-employee) who posted in the forum against that company come out in the open with facts or proofs, we were helpless.”

But this action has not been taken lightly by the community members. There has been an outrage against this on the forum. One member feels that this being an open forum, the administrators or moderators cannot be held liable for posts originating from the members. He doubts if these frauds would actually approach the courts which meant opening of a lot more cobwebs from their shelves. Most members feel that there is no justification in removing the post as the idea was to prevent potential employees from being sucked into this fraud. Aryans loosing business is due to their practices and policies and cannot be attributed to the postings on the forum.

Surprisingly, the company which claims to be an ISO 9001:2000 certified company has advertised this week for Software and Hardware trainees. The security deposit bug is not new to Technopark. Travancore Software Solutions (TSS), DDL Software, Jay Info System and Ada Software are some companies who have taken lakhs of rupees from graduates, promising them employment and on-the-job training. Sometime back, Technopark had advertised in leading newspapers cautioning job seekers while disassociating itself from companies asking for deposits. Just remember, a good company never asks for security deposits. If you are asked for it, then something is wrong, beware!!
