Reliance Communications HR:  Airtel, Aircel in play
By Alvira

Techgoss had reported earlier that the HR Head of Reliance Communication's Orissa Circle - Mr. Deepak Lal Yadav is on his way out from his current role and in turn, the organization.  The tech grapevine says he has been offered the Chandigarh Circle at the same position. This movement is likely to happen at the end of February 2008.

Mr. Yadav has been in Chandigarh earlier, and it is highly likely that this offer might be accepted.  The possible replacements for Mr. Yadav are Mr. Jagat Jyoti Mohanty, Senior HR Manager, Bharati Airtel, Hyderabad and Mr. Devendra Singh, HR Head, Aircel (Dishnet wireless Limited), Ranchi. They have been shortlisted for a final round of interview with the Hub Head, Bhopal, of which the Orissa Circle is a part.  It might be just a matter of days before we get to know what is the new HR Structure of Team HR, Reliance Communications at Orissa Circle.

(Techgoss had published the following story earlier in the month)

Reliance HR boss recruits successor
By Alvira

Bhubaneshwar: Reliance Communications (formerly Reliance Infocomm) is one of the most respected companies in India. The HR Head of the Orissa Circle of Reliance Communications, Mr. Deepak Lal Yadav, is all set to recruit his replacement. With just a month and a half left for the financial year to be over, and Mr. Yadav having made up his mind to move, he is looking for his replacement with vigour. The urgency in this hunt is also owing to the fact that at such senior levels, the movement mostly happens at the beginning of the financial year, as it impacts their business goals and KRAs (Key Result Areas). Hence the exigency and stress.

Reliance Communications Ltd. , Orissa Circle has been declared as  a circle in June 2007, prior to which it was a cluster under the Bhopal Circle. A Cluster is a collection of upto four or five towns in the telecommunications terminology. This collection of towns is based on a number of factors including population, ability to spread the network due to geographical conditions, economical development in the region, etc. A Circle is a collection of clusters, also based on a number of factors that decides the span of control.

Now there may be another reason for the hunt. The new structure in Reliance Communications Ltd. requires a dedicated HR Team for each of its line of business, which means every line of Business – be it Personal Business, or Wireless, or any line of business existing for that matter, will have its own HR Team, and there would be a separate HR Head for each line of business. So this might be another reason for the hunt for another HR Head.

We will wait and watch,  and only time will tell what the new HR structure will look like .
