LinkedIn Appoints Country Manager for India

LinkedIn is the most successful networking website for executives and dominates its niche. It has 52 million members in 200 countries. Reportedly, a new member joins LinkedIn approximately every second and half its members are from outside US. It has just appointed Mr. Hari V. Krishnan to head India.
Currently, LinkedIn has 3.4 million members in India. According to LinkedIn, “Hari V. Krishnan’s long-term responsibility will be to grow the company’s diverse business model comprised of user subscriptions, advertising sales and enterprise software licensing for the Indian market. Near-term this will include a focus on user engagement, strategic partnerships, marketing and general operations.”
“India is one of our fastest growing and most exciting opportunities,” said Jeff Weiner, chief executive officer of LinkedIn. “Hari’s addition to the LinkedIn team will not only help us better serve our membership and customers on a local basis, but will also help accelerate our goal to connect the world’s professionals.”
Prior to joining LinkedIn, Krishnan served as country head for MySpace in India where he helped drive user growth and managed overall operations. In his more than 10 years of industry experience he also served in leadership positions at Travelguru, Yahoo! India and Cisco. He earned a master’s of business administration from INSEAD in France. The LinkedIn user base in India is growing at approximately 70,000 per week, runs more than 2 million searches per week and has created more than 30,000 groups to date. Currently, the company has more than 60 advertisers in India which include brands such as General Motors, Microsoft, Reuters and Tanishq.
