Reliance Communications:  HR boss gets 35% hike
By Geeta Kapoor in Kolkatta

Finally the decision has been made and the future structure of the Reliance Communications HR Team is somewhat in place. Mr. Deepak Lal Yadav is moving out of his current role as the Circle HR Head of the Orissa Circle.  The new HR boss, Mr. Jagat Mohanty, has been given a massive pay hike to lure him from rival Vodafone.

Techgoss has been following the story for long to provide regular updates to our readers. Mr. Jagat Jyoti Mohanty is the chosen one, who would be taking on as the successor of Mr. Deepak Lal Yadav. Mr. Mohanty is from Vodafone, Hyderabad. He has been working in Vodafone for quite some time now. He hails from Bhubaneshwar and according to sources in the Accounts Department has taken on the assignment at almost a 35 % hike. His CTC (Cost to the company) has been finalized to the tune of Rs. 20 lakhs per annum. He has a total work experience of 13 years and like many people from Orissa may be happy to be back to his mother State.

Mr. Mohanty will be joining Reliance Communications after 1st Week of April, 2008. The reason for this delay is the PLI (Performance Linked Incentive) that is paid out in every organization at the end of every financial year, as a reward for the individual and company performance. This is something which is awaited eagerly and is a huge amount to be discarded by leaving early. The employee necessarily needs to be on the rolls of the organization on the 31st March of every year for the organization to be able to make this payout to the employee.

Mr. Yadav and Mr. Mohanty will be working together till May 2008, till Mr. Yadav hands over the entire operations to Mr. Mohanty.

(Techgoss has reported the following story in Feb, 2008)

Reliance HR Shake-up
By Rishi Talwar

Now here’s something completely unanticipated.  We have reported earlier that the structure of the HR Team in Reliance Communications is under metamorphosis. There has been a sudden development in this direction and we have been the first to be able to track it. This bit of information has not yet been publicised in the organization.

Sarat Tripathy, Senior Manager – HR at Reliance Communications Ltd. Orissa Circle, has resigned and this has happened before the formal resignation of the HR Head, Mr. Deepak Lal Yadav. Although Mr. Yadav is on his way out, this has only been conveyed verbally to the concerned authorities. To everyone’s alarm, the next – in – command, the Senior HR Manager, Mr. Sarat Yadav has formally submitted his resignation today.

Sarat Tripathy was the first member in the HR team and has handled the whole gamut of HR functions single-handedly in Orissa. He has been around for the past two years and has seen the transition of the territory of Reliance Orissa transform from a cluster to a full fledged Circle.

The grapevine has it that Sarat Tripathy has resigned because in spite of his tenure in the organization, and his seniority, he supposedly was not made the successor of Mr. Yadav as the HR Head of the Circle. He is tentatively moving on to Vodafone, Hyderabad.

It is also possible that Sarat Tripathy might be made the HR Head of one of the lines of businesses as a retention measure, with up to 40% salary hike.

This is an unexpected and sudden change and has taken everyone by surprise. We have been following this story for some time now, and we will keep our readers updated of the developments in the story.
