Sparsh BPO: 2 Senior IT managers walk
By Bala Shah

Sparsh is the domestic subsidiary of Intelenet Global Services.  It offers state of the art solutions to Vertical Industries to meet their voice and BPO needs.  In 2008, Sparsh had 5200 seats operating 24 by 7, and was telling investors it had the potential to scale up to 20,000 seats by 2009.  But it has lost a number of clients this year.

On November 6, 2009, Techgoss had exclusively reported how there was a turnover of 5 senior managers at Sparsh Mumbai.

Now, an Aircel insider rang Techgoss to inform us of even more churn at their BPO – Sparsh. In September 2009, the highly regarded Regional head of IT handling New Delhi and Kolkata at Sparsh BPO had resigned following ‘differences’ with his boss.  In October, 2009, another equally respected gentleman who is the Regional IT head handling Pune, Chennai, Pondicherry and Bangalore at Sparsh BPO Services also put down his papers.

The same tipster tells us that the regional IT head (South) was hospitalised in October 2009 due to increased blood pressure apparently due to work stress.

The telecom networks of Sparsh's clients such as Aircel are highly technical in nature and require planning and professional resources as all computers used for the Aircel process are on a dedicated Aircel network. Data security and integrity are highly critical to such networks and thus need to be overseen by highly skilled IT managers.

Sparsh Mumbai: 5 Managers in 2 years
By Bala Shah

Sparsh is the domestic subsidiary of Intelenet Global Services.  It offers state of the art solutions to Vertical Industries to meet their voice and BPO needs.  In 2008, Sparsh had 5200 seats operating 24 by 7, and was telling investors that it had the potential to scale up to 20,000 seats by 2009.  But it has lost a number of clients this year.

An Aircel insider tells techgoss that the Sparsh Mumbai Center (Deonar and Goregaon) has seen the churn of 5 highly regarded managers.  The latest was Anil Jacob who left on Oct 30, 2009.  The popular Anil Jacob had joined Sparsh BPO's Mumbai center in March 2009, but has now left for greener pastures.

It all started when Intelenet took over Sparsh BPO from Spanco.  The manager at Deonar soon left to take a position as Head of Operations at Spanco. A new AGM Tejas Pednekar was hired in Mid 2007.  A second senior Operations Head Vivek Kanan was incharge of the Barclays operations at Sparsh Goregaon. The highly capable Vivek moved out to join Barclays Bank’s dedicated center during the first quarter of 2008.

Sparsh then drafted in Puneet Sachdeva from the international operations of its parent Intelenet. Puneet stayed for 6 months and left in the first half of 2008. Tejas handled this post till Anil’s induction. Next to be recruited was Anil Jacob who resigned in October, 2009.

Sparsh has now moved the respected Tarit Kumar into this highly demanding post. Earlier, Tarit was with Intelenet and then management moved him from International operations to Barclay's domestic operations at Goregaon, Mumbai.

According to most insiders,  this job is very pressurized as the clients demand a very high quality of service.  Many BPO’s report a high turnover of managers and Agents if a particular job is very stressful.
