BPO Teletech agents suffer workstation shortage By Juan Dela Cruz
The Teletech management in Manila, Philippines seems oblivious to the crowded workplaces these days. Recently, their call center agents have been increasingly concerned about the lack of workstations to take calls on. Considering Teletech is a widely recognized top call center here in the Philippines, the Agents feel that their bosses should have been more responsive to their needs and ought to have addressed the shortage in a timely manner.
The problem of more Agents and fewer workstations has been ongoing for several weeks now and has no doubt affected the agents’ performance. One employee rang techgoss.com about the “horror” they have to go through when they come to work. She says they had to come to work earlier than usual because they need to find and fight over workstations they can take calls on. If they are unlucky enough not to find one, they had to wait for a place to be vacated which is definitely going to be a struggle. When they do find one, they can take calls on them but will not be able to make up the shift time they’ve lost because other employees are waiting for their stations to be vacated for the next shift. The poor agents end up losing money because they did not complete a full day’s work. Some agents have raised a valid point as to why Teletech has been busy building new sites in other areas and furnishing them when they couldn’t take care of furnishing their existing ones and making their employees feel comfortable and secure about the jobs.
Some agents have already been deliberately missing work because they feel there is no point coming in when they’re just going to have a hard time and there’s no guarantee they’d be paid in full.
