BPO Team Leader Sexually Harassing Staff Exposed In Sting Operation

Jyoti had just resigned from one of the well-known BPOs in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai and was waiting for her full & final settlement (F&F). She had a train to catch day after tomorrow, as she was an out-station employee. Till now, the F&F formalities were not completed. Naturally, she was very tense. She wanted the formalities to be completed before she left for Indore.  She decided to call her Team Leader,  who was around 28yrs of age and a full-time employee in the company, to see if he could facilitate her dues. She explained the situation and politely requested his assistance. But she was in for a rude shock. The Team Leader asked for a sexual favour in lieu of this so-called help.

This girl who once considered him as her mentor could not believe this and was jolted by this incident. After her refusal to his sexual advance , the Team Leader threatened her that she would pay for it and would suffer its consequences soon.

But Jyoti wanted to teach him a lesson before she left the city and had full faith that somebody would help her. The very next moment she called up her Operation Manager Sonia who had a reputation of being an honest,  straight forward person. Jyoti thought she could confide in her being a female Manager. She narrated the entire story to her. Sonia thanked the girl for bringing this incident to light and promised full support to her. Sonia hatched a plan and explained to Jyoti about her next step to gather evidence against the team leader. Sonia told Jyoti to make a call from her mobile to her (Sonia’s) phone and then make a second call to the Team Leader so that all the three were in conference.

Jyoti felt relieved to get the help as she was feeling insecure. The Team Leader received the call when he was on his shift,  and as planned the manager was already on the first line waiting to hear what he really said. While Jyoti was speaking to her ex-Team Leader, the Operations Manager was recording the call by keeping it on the speaker phone. Soon,  the Team Leader was heard asking for a sexual favour and deciding a meeting point.

The Team Leader was caught red-handed.  He was marched into the Manager’s office and told to put in his resignation straight away. The worst part of the incident is that the Team Leader had a love marriage and his wife worked in the same industry as trainer for a reputed international BPO in Mumbai.
