Dell Agents:  Different pay for same job
By Nosmo King

There is dissent among the highly skilled Agents working at Dell Centre at Pasay in Philippines.  What really irritates these hard working, respected techies is that their new colleagues are getting paid more than them for doing the same job.  In fact, according to Dell insiders these higher paid new comers, although skilled, have lesser trouble shooting experience than the longer serving employees More...

BPO Hub:  Locals missing out
By Nitin Paul

The vast majority of young people in the Mecca of BPOs and Call Centers, Gurgaon have not really benefited from the ITeS boom here and work as BPO cab drivers or security guards, the industry experts feel. In one such observations made by the father of ITeS industry in India, Raman Roy, during a seminar here, he said that Gurgaon grew as the world’s BPO capital but its local lads failed to benefit from this upsurge because of poor study patterns and social/lifestyle skills.

Dell BPO Price:  $4 million
By Juan Dela Cruz

The plan of Dell to sell their Philippine call center to outsourcer Teletech BPO has hit a snag recently, according to company insiders. Reportedly, Dell’s selling price for their facility located in Pasay city was an astounding 4 million US dollars in cash. This sale includes the premises, the equipment on site and the organization. Teletech would have virtually taken over the whole operations from Dell if the sale pushed through. Unfortunately, the Teletech top honchos felt the price was a little too steep,  and may not have enough “liquidity” to finance this huge undertaking. More...

BPO Teletech agents suffer workstation shortage
By Juan Dela Cruz

The Teletech management in Manila, Philippines seems oblivious to the crowded workplaces these days.  Recently, their call center agents have been increasingly concerned about the lack of   workstations to take calls on. Considering Teletech is a widely recognized top call center here in the Philippines, the Agents feel that their bosses should have been more responsive to their needs and ought to have addressed the shortage in a timely manner. He’s a national treasure mainly due to his amazing boxing skills and exciting wins against the world’s best in the sport. Key BPO exec ushers acquisition and expansion
By Juan Dela Cruz

It seems apparent that the acquisition of a key BPO Filipino executive by BPO LogicaCMG was only the first step in its expansion big picture. In less than a week after announcing former Business Process executive director Mitch Locsin was hired as a Global Business Development leader in their company, LogicaCMG  can boast of acquiring  three European BPO’s to grow its stake in the Euro BPO industry. They also have indicated their desire to shift directions towards a more lucrative business segment in the BPO industry.

EXL Service BPO: dazzles job applicants
By Juan Dela Cruz

I went out of my way to visit the newest Indian BPO to hit the block in the Philippines this month. EXL Service BPO, headquartered in New York, USA is headed by their CEO Vikram Talwar, one of the most prominent and successful Indians in the Call Centre industry. Following the recent trend of Indian BPO’s setting up shop in the Philippines, EXL have also planted their feet in Philippines and made it their second home for their delivery centers. Their new building at One E-com Center is their 9th Delivery site and their first outside India. Other delivery centers are in Pune, Gurgaon and several in Noida. More...

Dell:  Entire shift reprimanded for internet use
By Juan Dela Cruz

Gripes just keep piling up against Dell call center managers in the Philippines, a lot of whom have been accused of being unprofessional in the work place. It seems that Dell’s decision to remove some employees for business needs might need a little tweaking. If you ask their so called junior employees, Dell should be digging deeper and find out which managers really need to be let go. More...

Verizon doubles Network Engineers salaries
By Juan Dela Cruz

My source in the HR Department at FirstSource BPO’s Verizon Business account informed me that recent employees were on cloud nine by the tempting job offers presented to them. As network engineers working for a major local telecoms company here in the Philippines, some used to receive only about 16,000 pesos gross salary. But due to the ramp up of network engineers by Verizon Business, many applied. More...

This story’s title seems to be another piece of a bigger Dell Philippines direction-shift puzzle. Events like this raise fears among workers of a looming management plan of Dell to outsource again. The greater majority of the company has recently been abuzz with speculations fueled by events such as this. More...
